All of these tracks (other than Lichter and Into the Trees) were written and posted by Dirk Maassen as open collaborations on Soundcloud. In response to these postings I could not resist adding some ambient guitar textures.
In regard to Lichter, this began as an ambient guitar track which I sent to Dirk and from which he added his beautiful piano melody.
Into the Trees was written and recorded by Dirk Maassen before he kindly asked me to add some guitar textures. I was and remain very honoured to have been asked to collaborate with him on this beautiful track.
Dirk has kindly given me permission to release all of these tracks together on this EP.
On reflecting upon these pieces it has been an absolute pleasure for me to meet and work with Dirk. I recommend you visit his web site and give more of his wonderful compositions a listen.
I hope that you enjoy the results of our collaborations and that there will be more releases in the future....
This heartbreakingly beautiful music must have been born of Ukraine's troubles of 2014. It is all the more poignant now, in 2022, against the unspeakable cruelty being visited on the people of that country. Do something for Ukraine. Max North
The sound of Depression, simplified. Amazing. Bought the discography during one of the Friday sales ... do not regret it a bit. Instrumental brilliance.
